大会趣旨

実行委員長挨拶

LET65（2026）年次研究大会実行委員会を代表して、本大会開催のご挨拶を申し上げます。
世界の変化の速度がますます加速していると感じる今日この頃ですが、教育とテクノロジーを取り巻く環境も、例外なく大きな転換点にあります。生成AIの急速な進展は、外国語教育における教材観、指導観、そして学習者との関係性そのものを問い直す契機となりつつあります。AIを活用した実践報告や試みは着実に蓄積されてきましたが、その一方で、それらをどのような教育的基盤に位置づけ、どのような原理に基づいてインストラクションへと統合していくのかについては、なお多角的な検討と評価が求められています。

こうした問題意識のもと、LET65では、北の大地・北海道に根づく開拓者精神を象徴的な背景として、「AI時代の外国語教育におけるインストラクションの新たな展望」を探ることを大会の主題に掲げました。未知の環境に向き合い、試行錯誤を重ねながら新たな価値を創出してきた北海道の歴史にならい、本大会では、日本語教育も含めた外国語教育における生成AIの主要な特徴や限界を明確にしつつ、スピーキングをはじめとする外国語教育のインストラクションにどのように効果的に組み込むことができるのか、その基本的な考え方を参加者の皆様と共有していきます。

大会では、開拓の地・北海道の精神を受け継ぎ、先導的かつ理論的に裏付けられた実践研究に取り組んできた、世界的に著名な研究者を招き、AI活用の最前線から得られた視点を提示していただく予定です。あわせて、今後の教育実践に直接的に資する知見を共有し、研究と実践の往還を通して、AI時代の言語教育が切り拓くべき新たな地平を、参加者の皆様とともに展望したいと考えています。

本大会が、急速に変化する時代の中で立ち止まり、考え、議論し、次の一歩を見定めるための、実り多い場となることを心より願っております。多くの皆様のご参加をお待ち申し上げております。

大会趣旨

Dear LET members,

On behalf of the Organizing Committee of the LET65 (2026) Annual Conference, we are pleased to extend our warmest greetings to all participants.

In recent years, we have experienced an unprecedented acceleration in the pace of global change, and the educational landscape shaped by technological innovation is no exception. The rapid advancement of generative AI has begun to fundamentally challenge our conventional views of teaching materials, instructional practices, and even the nature of the relationship between teachers and learners in foreign language education. While reports and classroom-based practices using AI have steadily increased, there is still a need for further careful discussion and evaluation of how these practices can be meaningfully situated within pedagogical frameworks and integrated into instruction.

With this background in mind, LET65 has chosen the theme “A Vision for the Future of AI-Enhanced Foreign Language Education,” taking inspiration from the pioneering spirit of Hokkaido, the northern frontier of Japan. Inspired by Hokkaido’s history of learning through exploration and adaptation, this conference aims to clarify the key characteristics and limitations of generative AI in foreign language education—including Japanese language education—while exploring how AI can be effectively incorporated into instruction, particularly in areas such as “speaking.” Through this process, we seek to share fundamental perspectives on AI-integrated instruction with all participants.

The conference will include invited talks by leading scholars from around the world who have pursued innovative approaches to educational research and practice, reflecting the pioneering spirit associated with Hokkaido. Based on their experience with AI-enhanced instruction, these speakers will offer insights into where the field is now and where it may be heading. In addition, the conference seeks to promote dialogue between research and practice by sharing knowledge that can be directly applied in educational contexts, and by collectively exploring new directions for language education in the AI era.

We sincerely hope that this conference will provide a meaningful opportunity to pause, reflect, engage in thoughtful discussion, and chart the next steps forward amid rapid societal change. We look forward to welcoming many of you to LET65.
