Traveling from Tenjin to Airport (International):
By Subway (to Fukuoka-Kuko Subway Station 福岡空港地下鉄駅)
- In Tenjin, find your way to the Tenjin Subway Station. The closer you are to the intersection of Watanabe-dori and Meiji-dori, the closer you are to the heart of the Tenjin Subway Station. Perhaps the closest street-level subway entrances would be either at the front of the Fukuoka Building 福岡ビル or in front of the Tenjin Building 天神ビル which is on the opposite side of the intersection.
- Upon descending through either of these entrances, you’ll find yourself at a huge, underground pedestrian intersection. You are in between the East and West Subway Entrances. Follow the signs to either entrance. If you need help, at the center of this busy intersection is an Information Booth 案内所.
- Purchase a ¥250 ticket (for Fukuoka-Kuko 福岡空港) from any of the automated subway ticket vending machines lining the entrance. Instructions are also in English.
- You’ll need to line up on the platform whose trains are headed east (Fukuoka-Kuko 福岡空港 on the Kuko-sen 空港線).
- Caution:
1. Do not use the west-bound (Meinohama Karatsu 姪浜・唐津方面)
2. Avoid using the east-bound Kaizuka Line 貝塚線 The transfer at Nakasu-Kawabata to get back on an airport-bound train can be a little confusing.
By Taxi
- The daytime taxi fee to get from Tenjin to the Airport International Terminal would run you over ¥2200 (not using the City Expressway), and the ride would take about 18-30 minutes, depending on traffic conditions. Rates increase 20% between the hours of 23:00 and 5:00.
