Traveling from Tenjin to Fukuoka University:
By Subway
- In Tenjin, make your way to the Tenjin Underground Shopping Mall 天神地下街.
- You’ll want to go to the Tenjin “Minami” Subway Station 天神南地下鉄駅 (Nanakuma Line 七隈線) which is located just at the southeast corner of TUSM. (The station is in purple, TUSM is the yellow area running right-side parallel to the pink.) (NOTE: Be careful not to mistakenly follow any “Tenjin” Station 天神駅 sign which could easily lead you to either to the Tenjin “Nishitetsu” Station or the “Tenjin” Subway Station (another subway located at the northwest corner of the TUSM.)
- Enjoy taking in the many underground shops and cafes along the way to the Nanakuma Line, but keep looking out for signs leading to the Tenjin-“Minami” Station 天神南駅. If you get lost, just ask any helpful shop attendant to help you get back on track.
- Once you’ve made it to the Tenjin-Minami Station, purchase a ticket for ￥290, insert your ticket into the ticket gate and make your way to the platforms.
- Get on trains that are bound for Hashimoto 橋本方面, the last stop on the Nanakuma Line.
- Fukudai-mae is ten stops from Tenjin-Minami or a 16-minute ride. Just keep your eyes on the lit-map indicator above the train doors to let you know where your next stop will be.
- Here’s a weekday timetable of trains headed towards Fukuoka University.
- Exit Fukudai-mae Station and you’ll find yourself immediately at the Main Gate (West Entrance) to Fukuoka University.
By Taxi
- The daytime taxi fee to get from the street-level near Tenjin-Minami to Fukuoka University would run you over ￥2500, and the ride would take about 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic conditions. Rates increase 20% between the hours of 23:00 and 5:00.
